Producer
The Cave du Vin Blanc is a quality focused cooperative located in Morgex in the Aosta Valley. It was established in 1983 by a group of growers in order to improve wine standards and to promote these unique high altitude wines to a wider audience.
Region
Vin de Morgex is cultivated at an altitude of 1,300m at the foot of Mont Blanc in the the Valle d’Aosta on the border between Switzerland and Italy. These are the highest vineyards in Europe. Prié Blanc grapes are cultivated under stone pergolas that are a legacy from Roman viticulture, helping them to ripen. This ancient variety is very resistant to the elements; indeed it is common to see the vines covered with snow and ice at harvest time.
Food Pairing
With its restrained fruit character and high acidity Prié Blanc is a versatile food wine that is excellent with rich, cheesy mountain dishes, but also with risotto, creamy pasta, white meat and fish.
